Version 9.06 of dTHOMAS We are pleased to announce the release of Version 9.06 of dTHOMAS! This version includes the ability to prepare and print the new CMS-1500 (02-12) claim form for the April 2014 deadline.

A fax letter went out over the last week to all of our dTHOMAS and dTHOMAS Lite clients:

Dear dTHOMAS and dTHOMAS Lite clients:

An update will be released for dTHOMAS allowing for the use of the new CMS 1500 form before the April 1, 2014 deadline. This does not include the ability to send claims in the ICD‐10 format. dTHOMAS users are encouraged to switch to eTHOMAS prior to the ICD‐10 deadline which is slated for October 1, 2014.

When this update is released, Genius Solutions will send emails out to its clients with instructions on how to use it. Please verify that Genius Solutions has a valid email address for your office:

• Have you received an email from us in the last few months? If not, please email support23@geniussolutions.com with an email address that you would like us to have on file.  (Include your office name and account number please.)

• Also, verify that email from Genius Solutions is not being filtered into your “junk” or “spam” folders.

ICD-10 is Less Than 1 Year Away!

For October 1, 2014 dates of service and after, providers will be required to use ICD-10 to report diagnosis information.  For any date of service prior to October 1, 2014, providers will be required to use ICD-9 codes.  eTHOMAS users will soon update and see new features to assist with ICD-10, including the ability to import ICD-10 diagnosis codes by category and the ability to group ICD-10 codes into types.  (All clients who use dTHOMAS should have received a notice explaining that dTHOMAS will not be updated for ICD-10.)

Genius will be working with the following clearinghouses:

• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan
• Availity
• Gateway EDI
• Office Ally
• Administar
• Dmerc Region C
• Zirmed

If you transmit claims to anyone not on this list, please e-mail icd-10@geniussolutions.com with the name of the payer that you send claims to. 

Michigan HealthPlus Sender? More e-Options for you!

First off - if you currently send your HealthPlus claims electronically, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING.  You are good to go.

But now you have another choice.  In order to increase the receipt of electronic claims, HealthPlus claims can now be sent directly to HealthPlus (as they always have been) or to Blue Cross EDI.  If you have been sending your HealthPlus claims on paper because you didn't want to go through the fuss of trying to send to them separately you can now sign up to send your HealthPlus claims via BCEDI.

BCBSM (Michigan) Edit for MR and RRMR

Over the last couple of weeks we've been getting calls about BCBS Michigan edits regarding Medicare, RR Medicare, DMERC etc.

Per BCBSM:

"Effective 9/28/2012, Medicare implemented new front-end edits for
all Medicare Part B and Medicare DMERC professional claims. The edits are triggered by Medicare for claims reporting a Group Name in
Loop 2000B SBR04. Edits are returned on 277CAW and 277CAM reports and 277CA transactions:

A8 663 IL Entity's Group Name
A8 732 IL Information submitted inconsistent with billing guidelines"

Michigan THOMAS clients must take out what they have in plan name and group name for MR (Medicare) and RRMR (Rail Road Medicare) policies only, to comply with the Medicare guidelines.

Year-End Procedures for THOMAS (Suggestions)

At Genius Solutions we understand that the end of the year can be a very stressful time for your office.  In hopes of streamlining your process we have come up with these recommends to close out last year properly.  We do not recommend posting any of next year’s charges until these steps have been completed.  During this process everyone should be out of THOMAS, and this checklist should be followed in the order given.  The length of time required to complete these functions will vary depending on the size of your practice and the amount of data that you have in your system.

Genius Focus Group- Warren (with goodies)

Wow, it was a whirlwind week last week.  It took me the entire weekend for my head to come back to earth and settle down.  Warren was a lot of fun!  The dynamic was a bit different in Warren because we had so many more people.  We also tried a different room setup, instead of rows of chairs and tables we were able to try a giant horseshoe of chairs and tables so that everyone could see each other and we could see them.  I think I can safely say that all of those who presented really liked it, and the comments coming back from you were that the layout was equally well-liked by you.  It seemed odd at first, having a giant space in the middle, but it really was much easier for all of us, to well, see all of us.   I just wanted to give a quick review with some tips for those that were there (or were not able to be there).  I'll also be giving you a link to download the printed materials we gave out (.pdf) so you can have it on your computer, or be able to print out more copies if needed.

Update your THOMAS, d and e

If you aren’t up-to-date, don’t wait, update! If you are an active, current Genius client office, the update is FREE; there is no charge for updates to the program if you are a current SoftCare subscriber.  Here is more on the "whys" and "how to-s".

dTHOMAS clients: AutoUpdate now!

We strongly recommend that you update your dTHOMAS systems now, so that you will be on the most current version of the program.  This will keep you in step with the current changes in the healthcare and billing arenas that may affect your office and your billing.
